Not only the CES but also AMPER fair will present revolutionary news. For the first time ever on the Czech fair there will be presented the new technology Bluetooth® SMART Beacons, the appliances able to communicate with nearby mobile devices and send the target message to them. They will be shown in Hall V from 24th to 27th March.
This pilot demonstration in the Czech Republic in this complex commercial form will be organised by Neogenia (developer and operator of the platform/Spothill) and Terinvest (organizer of AMPER 2015) with EMBC01 Bluetooth® SMART Beacons from EM Microelectronic. During the fair, the selected content will be send to the smart devices of the visitors using the beacons – as it was done during this year CES fair in Las Vegas.
iBeacon technology was introduced in 2013 by Apple as a specification of standards for the low energy Bluetooth transceivers, so called beacons or spots, which are able to transmit its identification information to mobile devices. Bluetooth® SMART Beacons introduced by EM Microelectronic goes even further. In addition to the information provided by the date centre, they can transfer data directly from sensors in each beacon to your smartphone – wirelessly over a distance of tens of meters. It is very easy to create your own custom applications using the included development kits. Unique parameters of EMBC01 were achieved through two components with extremely low power and low supply voltage – integrated circuits EM9301 and EM6819.
In Hall V, we will place tens of EMBC01 beacons, which will be used for indoor localisation of visitors and to transfer various pieces of information to smartphones or tablets. It will be the largest deployment of this technology in a real environment in Czech Republic, even with the limited information being transferred so far
said Roman Studený, the Lead Project Manager of Spothill by Neogenia. Spothill mobile user application that is used for the communication with spots is ready for the Android platform. The iOS is in alpha version too and still in development.. The mobile device must be equipped with the low energy module BLE (Bluetooth 4.0) and Spothill application with enabled notifications running in the background to receive the information.
“Spots can send message when users get near them, when they spend specified time in the area or on contrary when they leave. It also recognizes the user’s repeated visit. The combination of these scenarios allows you to target on the specific customer groups. The application works with the user preferences so the offers are filtered based on the information stored in the user´s profile,
specified Roman Studený. The business model of the Spothill platform is based on the rental of the individual spots. The monthly fee includes the technology of the spots and the service support.
Since last autumn Neogenia realized two dozens of Spothill projects with hundreds of placed spots and they are used by such subjects as OC Kotva shopping mall, Prague Congress Centre during the Mamma Mia musical or Technical Museum in Brno. Until April this year it offers the spots with the possible participation in payment, due to the pilot project.
Visitors of the 23rd year of AMPER 2015, the biggest international fair of Electrotechnics, Electronics, Automation, Communication, Lighting and Security Technologies in Central Europe, organized by Terinvest, will be receiving detailed offers of beacon when reaching specific areas, such as: “You have entered the Hall V, when you can find exhibits pf companies dealing with automation and management.” On the contrary, when leaving the hall, the visitor will receive notice of the interesting promotion offer.
